"A senior Pakistan navy officer was shot dead and his Swedish wife wounded in Pakistan's port city of Karachi on Wednesday, police said. The couple were shot on a busy thoroughfare near the National Stadium, a cricket venue, in the city's eastern district. 'Two gunmen riding a motorbike intercepted Captain Naveed's vehicle and opened fire, killing him on the spot,' local police official Tahir Naveed told AFP. He had only one name for the dead officer." "At least two suspected militants were killed by police during an operation against militants in southern Pakistani city of Karachi on Tuesday, said police. According to police, two suspected militants were killed during a search operation by police in an alleged police encounter near Peerabad area of Korangi Town in Karachi city. A senior police official, SP Chaudhry Asad told that the militants opened fire on the police and two of them were killed on the spot in retaliation, while three of their accomplices managed to escape from the scene." The blast in the capital of Baluchistan province took place in Kali Muslimabad of Akhtarabad area near the Western Bypass, Dunya news reported. Pakistan: Attack on security forces’ camp kills six

"Four militants attacked a security forces' camp using heavy weaponry in Sara Rogh are of South Waziristan tribal region, according to security officials who wanted not to be named. Security personnel engaged in retaliatory firing killing three attackers whereas the fourth militant detonated a suicide vest he was wearing and blew himself up. Security sources said that two soldiers were killed in the attack and nine others sustained injuries." (08/27/13)

"A bomb planted on a bicycle killed at least two people and wounded another in Balochistan province on Monday, officials said. 'At least two people were killed and a pedestrian was wounded when a bomb planted on a bicycle exploded on a roadside in Quetta,' according to senior police official Bashir Ahmed Brohi. An insurgency pushing for political autonomy and a greater share of profits from the region’s oil, gas and mineral resources began in 2004 in the province, of which Quetta is the capital." The blast took place in the impoverished Lyari neighbourhood of the city after a football match on Wednesday. 'The bomb was planted on a motorbike that was parked outside the stadium,' senior police official Tariq Dharejo told AFP news agency. Dharejo said the bomb was a remote-controlled device. A 12-page report, titled 'Details of Attacks by NATO Forces/Predators in FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas)' describes 75 CIA drone attacks between 2006 and 2009 ....
