Pakistan: Five killed in Khyber explosion

"At least five people were killed and seven others were injured on Wednesday in a bomb blast in the Khyber tribal region's Tirah valley. Official sources said the blast which may have been a suicide attack occurred in the Pir Mela area of Tirah valley. Moreover, sources said it was suspected that a suicide bomber may have targeted volunteers from the Zalakhel peace committee. However, the identity of the victims is yet to be ascertained." Thursday’s attacks follows a suicide blast targeting Frontier Corps deputy chief Brigadier Khalid Bajwa in Peshawar. Javed narrowly escaped the explosion. "A U.S. drone strike killed four suspected militants Sunday in a northwestern tribal region in Pakistan along the Afghan border, intelligence officials and Taliban fighters said. "Fed up with constant delays and flight cancellations, disgruntled Pakistani passengers prevented a senior politician from boarding an airplane after he turned up at least two hours late for the flight. A video posted online on Tuesday shows a group of passengers shouting 'Shame on you' as they blocked Rehman Malik, an influential former interior minister, from entering the plane and then chasing him back to the terminal building. ... Pakistan: Clashes after shots fired at Imran Khan

"Clashes have erupted in Pakistan after an attack on a convoy of protesters heading to the capital Islamabad, led by opposition politician Imran Khan. A crowd pelted the convoy with stones in the city of Gujranwala. Officials from Mr Khan's party said his vehicle was also shot at but he was not hurt. This protest is being seen as the strongest challenge to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif since he took office. Anti-government cleric Tahirul Qadri is also leading a convoy to the capital." (08/15/14)

"Two personnel of the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, and a minor girl were gunned down in a Quaidabad area hours after the killing of four suspected militants in two separate encounters with the paramilitary force on Sunday, officials said. The two Rangers personnel -- Saifullah, 38, and Sanaullah, 35 -- posted at a Rangers checkpoint were targeted by gunmen riding a motorcycle when they went to a bazaar near the Hospital Chowrangi in Muslimabad on a motorbike to purchase ice for Iftar." In a separate incident, six people were killed by a roadside bomb on the outskirts of the northwestern town of Hangu.
