Clinton, Trump try to BS veterans in forum appearances

New York Times

"Hillary Clinton defended her support for military intervention in Libya and the nuclear deal with Iran in a television forum on Wednesday, but flatly ruled out sending American troops to Iraq. Mrs. Clinton also denied again that she had been careless with classified information as secretary of state, arguing that it was her 'rock steadiness' that made her the better choice for president. ... After Mrs. Clinton’s appearance, Mr. Trump attacked the foreign policy of the Obama administration, which he called 'the dumbest foreign policy' he had ever seen. The leadership of the military, Mr. Trump said, had been 'reduced to rubble.' He also repeated the false claim that he had been against the war in Iraq from the beginning." (09/07/16)

Comey denies playing “games” with FBI release of Clinton probe notes

In a memo sent to FBI employees, first reported by ABC News, Comey said that the agents' notes and summary of Clinton's interview were released last Friday because that's when they were ready and not as part of any effort to bury them ahead of a long holiday weekend." Google is STILL rigging searches for Hillary Clinton

"[N]o Valley institution has been more proactively Leftist -- than mammoth, monster Google. The Venn diagram between the company and the Barack Obama Administration -- is one circle evenly, perfectly laid over another. And the policy rewards from the administration for Google's support and fealty -- are great, and continuing to grow. But most of these Google gifts are the result of unilateral administration power grabs -- and thus ephemeral. They can (and should) all be unilaterally undone by the next administration. Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton has promised to keep in place the ones to which she's spoken -- most vocally, most importantly the awful Network Neutrality. So Google is a big Clinton fan -- and wants to see her succeed Obama. So they've been rigging their searches to her benefit -- more specifically, hiding damaging search results. This became a thing in June." (09/06/16)

Nobody could possibly get away with armed robbery by informing the judge 'I forgot armed robbery was illegal' in the real world, right? If Hillary Clinton worked in comedy instead of in politics, she'd probably be in court right now defending a suit for stealing Martin's gag. But she's no comedienne. She apparently put up the Steve Martin defense with a straight face when questioned by the FBI, as revealed in newly released documents." (09/05/16)

Hillary Clinton, the Podesta Group and the Saudi regime: A fatal menage a trois

Let Gary Johnson debate Clinton and Trump

"We are now less than a month from the first presidential debate, but several questions remain to be decided. Will Donald Trump show up? Who will be the moderator? And, perhaps most important, will there be three podiums on the stage or just two? Given that 57 percent of voters say they feel dissatisfied with a choice between Clinton and Trump, one might think that debate organizers would be eager to include a credible third-party candidate in the mix. A former two-term governor who will likely be on the ballot in all 50 states and is running in double digits in many polls would fit that criteria. But unless something changes over the next few weeks, it seems likely that the candidate who fits that description will not be invited." (08/31/16)

State Department says Benghazi emails involving Clinton recovered by FBI

Los Angeles Times Los Angeles Times

"The State Department says about 30 emails that may be related to the 2012 attack on U.S. compounds in Benghazi, Libya, are among the thousands of Hillary Clinton emails recovered during the FBI's recently closed investigation into her use of a private server. Government lawyers told U.S. District Court Judge Amit P. Mehta on Tuesday that an undetermined number of the emails among the 30 were not included in the 55,000 pages previously provided by Clinton. The State Department's lawyer said it would need until the end of September to review the emails and redact potentially classified information before they are released. Mehta questioned why it would take so long to release so few documents and urged that the process be sped up. He ordered the department to report to him in a week with more details about why the review process would take a full month." (08/30/16)

A mandateless election

Only 13 percent report that they are 'very satisfied' with their choice. Since, barring a Gary Johnson upset or intervention by the Sweet Meteor of Death, one of them will have to win, millions of Americans will be voting for someone they don’t think should be president. In fact, half of all those voting for Clinton and 55 percent of those voting for Trump say that they are actually voting against the other candidate rather than for their choice. That's not exactly what one would call a mandate." (08/24/16)

Conventional wisdom says Hillary Clinton will use her superior command of the facts and her ability to namedrop world leaders to run circles around Trump. The economic effects of the Clinton tax proposal

"Compared with other presidential election year cycles, the 2016 campaign takes place in a period of perplexingly slow economic growth. Secretary Hillary Clinton''s tax proposal, the center of her campaign's fiscal policy, stresses fairness. To reach "broadly shared prosperity," in this slow-growth environment, the Clinton tax proposals seek to promote growth and equity by shifting the tax burden to high-income taxpayers. The proposals are clearly predicated on a normative objective to diminish income inequality and to bring greater equity to the tax code. In this report, we focus on the efficiency effects of the Clinton tax proposal, leaving the debate over equity for a separate analysis of distributional effects (Haughton et al. 2016)." Hillary’s hubris: Only tell the rich for $5000 a minute!

"There is a growing asymmetry between the media's mounting demands for Donald Trump to release his tax returns (Hillary has done so) and their diminishing demands that Hillary Clinton release the secret transcripts of her $5000 per minute speeches before closed-door banking conferences and other business conventions. The Washington Post, an endorser of Clinton, in its August 18 issue devoted another round of surmising as to why Trump doesn't want to release his tax returns -- speculating that he isn't as rich as he brags he is, that he pays little or no taxes, and that he gives little to charity. Other media outlets endorsing Hillary have been less than vociferous in demanding that she release what she told business leaders in these pay-to-play venues." (08/22/16)

Hillary Clinton’s terrible tax plan

"Hillary Clinton recently laid out her plan for the economy, which boils down to more government, more spending, more taxes, more regulations, and more red tape. It translates into more debt and less growth. Some of the most outrageous provisions of her plan are those that target U.S. corporations abroad. To be fair, Clinton's policies are very similar to those of President Barack Obama. They both want to prevent U.S. companies from leaving the country through a process called inversion. They both also fundamentally misunderstand the reasons behind inversions and try to fix the perceived problem by treating the symptoms rather than the causes." (08/18/16)

This has provoked the Ukrainians into paroxysms of spittle-flecked hysteria. ... In short, the leaders of Ukraine hate Trump, have continually denounced him, and are openly rooting for a Clinton victory in November: by launching a terrorist attack on Crimea, and before that trying to assassinate the President of the rebellious Luhansk Republic in eastern Ukraine -- they put a bomb under his car, seriously injuring him -- they hope to provoke Putin into taking military action.
