"Critics of patent and copyright often argue that copyright causes censorship, while patents inhibit free trade and competition. For this reason, and because of the way the state can use copyright and the fight against piracy as an excuse to clamp down on information sharing and also the Internet itself, I’ve argued that copyright is worse than patent. But patent and copyright are not so easily compartmentalized." (02/29/12)
