"President Ollanta Humala, seeking to get a grip on protests roiling Andean mining towns, named a former military officer as prime minister and reshuffled his cabinet. Mr. Humala named Interior Minister Oscar Valdes, a retired army lieutenant colonel, as his new prime minister replacing Salomon Lerner Ghitis, who resigned late Saturday." (12/11/11)
