Corporations flout “personhood” at people’s expense

"What effect does corporate 'personhood' have on American democracy and the rights of real people? ... Corporations possess one great right which exceeds that of real people: The owners of the corporation are protected from suits against the corporation. To ensure the corporations do not abuse this right, governments established corporations under a state charter which spelled out what the corporation could and couldn’t do. With expanded rights came expanded responsibilities." (11/07/11)
