Cain 9-9-9 adviser backs off sales tax idea

"One of the key economic advisers who helped presidential candidate Herman Cain draft his 9-9-9 tax plan is backing away from the most controversial component of it .... Economic adviser Stephen Moore said earlier that he intends to tell Cain to drop the sales tax portion of the plan and replace it with a 9 percent payroll tax, which would disappear under the current proposal."
