"Al-Awlaki was clearly an enemy of the FedGov; whether his REASONS for being an enemy were legitimate or not. Indeed, his reasons for fighting against the US directly or indirectly, were a moot point -- as [moot] a point as asking whether an Imperial German soldier was fighting against the American Expeditionary Force in France had a 'legitimate' reason to try and kill US soldiers or not."
