"It’s a curious time for bickering in the National Basketball Association (NBA). ... There is no 'little guy' in this labor fight. No impassioned blue-collar union with which outsiders can sympathize, and no scabs to replace the world’s most incredible athletes. Yet this struggle still amounts to one group of uber-wealthy monopolists exerting their will upon a group of talented performers who cannot ply their trade past their thirties and upon whose powerful personal brands the entire enterprise depends. They are millionaires, but they are also the driving force of a billion-dollar industry." [editor's note: This recalls Chris Rock's great routine about the differences between being "rich" and "wealthy" ... almost enough for a plagiarism suit! - SAT] (10/13/11)
