"The nation has invested over a hundred billion dollars in this facility, which is international (the Europeans, Japanese and Russians are partners). Whether it is worth the investment to date is unclear, but it is a sunk cost. The question is, what is it worth going forward? Whatever it is, the space agency is taking the position that it is not worth the risk of a human life. This is, to put it as gently as possible, insane." (10/11/11)
