"Bland (sometimes referred to as Richard Bland II or Richard Bland of Jordan’s Point), was an American planter and statesman from Virginia. He served for many terms in the House of Burgesses, and was a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1774 and 1775. Bland served as a Justice of the Peace in Prince George County, and was made an officer in the militia in 1739." (10/09/11)
