"Activists say Syrian troops have conducted deadly raids in central Syria as the U.N. says the death toll from six months of unrest has reached at least 2,600. The raids around Hama began Monday after security forces cut all roads leading to the area along with electricity and telephone lines. The activist network called the Local Coordination Committees said there were civilian casualties but the exact number was not immediately clear." (09/12/11)
