"A top Libyan rebel commander said on Sunday insurgent forces were 30 kilometres west of Moamer Gaddafi’s hometown bastion of Sirte and 100 kilometres away to the east after seizing Bin Jawad. ... according to BBC, fugitive Libyan leader Col Gaddafi is ready to begin talks to transfer power, his spokesman has said. Moussa Ibrahim reportedly said the toppled leader’s son Saadi would lead the talks. The rebels say they will not negotiate until he surrenders." (08/29/11)
