"Foreign intervention is the pride of American policy. It has been our raison d'etre for a century, beginning with the Spanish-American war in the late 1890s and continuing without meaningful interruption. The people of these united States are amenable to these constant entanglements, it seems, because our enlightened system of democracy allows us to decide what is best for the rest of the world. Our latest humanitarian effort is the destruction (and forthcoming rebuilding) of Libya." (08/25/11)
