"Anarchist and voluntaryist schools of modern libertarianism notwithstanding, Libertarians don't advocate cutting the country's defenses. While the libertarian nonaggression principle rejects coercion -- the initiation of force -- it clearly advocates the defensive use of force. And that's why libertarians demand an end to America's aggressive empire building and its use of the military to police the world while insisting on an efficient and potent defensive force to combat anyone who would aggress against us."
