"A coalition of left-leaning political parties and groups in Paraguay has presented a petition to Congress urging lawmakers to amend the constitution so leftist President Fernando Lugo can seek re-election. The South American nation's constitution limits presidents to a single five-year term. News media reports in recent days have said a majority of Paraguay's legislators including some of Lugo's allies indicate they oppose lifting the ban on multiple presidential terms that has been in place since 1992."
