"Officials have begun counting the vote in five Indian state elections that pose a severe test to the ruling Congress party as it battles a string of corruption scandals. In the most-watched race, Congress and its ally Trinamool Congress are predicted to unseat a 34-year Communist-led government in West Bengal. Congress and its partners had appeared ripe for defeat following protests against food inflation and the arrests of high-level officials and lawmakers linked with Congress on corruption charges."
