"The sweet smell of congressional recess is in the air, and this year’s Easter break runs a full two weeks. Visitors used to chuckle when I made the observation that children enjoyed recess until about sixth grade, then didn’t get it again unless they were elected to Congress. Most members, however, spend the time working in their home states rather than playing kickball. Stretches like this one are also custom-made for congressional travel. Just hours after they dropped their gavels to pass the budget deal, Harry Reid was over the Pacific on a fast plane to China while his counterpart, John Boehner, flew east to Iraq." (04/25/11)
