"Tennessee's abortion protections are scheduled to come up for debate in the legislature today, in a critical vote that could determine whether the issue goes before voters in 2014. The Senate is taking up a constitutional amendment that would overturn the Tennessee Supreme Court ruling that has served as the foundation for abortion law in the state for more than a decade. The amendment would not ban abortion outright in Tennessee, but it probably would lead to new regulations on abortion, including waiting periods and greater restrictions on when abortions can be performed."
