"Lawmakers opened debate Tuesday on a bill that would allow the sale of wine in grocery stores. In the first action on the issue of the year, a Senate committee listened for more than an hour to testimony on legislation that would break down one of the state's fundamental restrictions on alcohol sales. Supporters argued that allowing the sale of wine in grocery stores will generate millions of dollars in tax revenue for the state and boost sales of other products, such as meat and cheese."
