"A Washington County man lost his Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms when he was convicted in 1995 of cocaine trafficking and receiving stolen firearms, a federal appeals court ruled today. James F. Barton, 51, of Washington, claimed the law making it illegal for a felon to possess a firearm was unconstitutional. His appeal cited a 2008 U.S. Supreme Court decision that struck down a District of Columbia law prohibiting the private ownership of handguns." (03/05/11)
