"The Internal Revenue Service handed self-employed seniors a surprise tax break for 2010. Reversing a long-standing rule, the instructions to Form 1040 for 2010 say that self-employed people can deduct their Medicare Part B health insurance premiums on Line 29. Before 2010, the IRS said Medicare Part B premiums did not qualify for the self-employed health insurance deduction. The change has many tax pros scratching their heads." (02/17/11)
