NGO: Press freedoms threatened in Latin America

"Threats against journalists and restrictions on press freedoms are increasing throughout Latin America, especially in Venezuela under President Hugo Chavez, an international watchdog group said Tuesday. In its annual report, the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists said that 'a rise in censorship can be seen throughout Latin America, caused by government repression, judicial interference, and intimidation from criminal groups.'"
