""An employee of a Wauconda pharmacy shot and critically wounded a man today as he attempted to rob the drugstore, police said. Witnesses told police that a man wearing a ski mask entered Wauconda Pharmacy on Main Street at about 1:45 p.m. today, forced his way into the pharmacy area, threatened an employee with a knife and demanded a large amount of prescription painkillers. After he was given the drugs, a pharmacist and a technician grabbed the suspect an ordered him to stop and surrender, police said. The suspect broke free and threatened the two men, at which point the pharmacist fired a shot." (02/14/11)
