"From the above discussion, it’s clear that the 1962 amendments play a major role in today’s soaring pharmaceutical prices and, most likely, the high profit margin that these companies offer. In recent years, pharmaceutical companies have once again been permitted to engage in direct-to-consumer advertising, so advertising has increased. Many people believe that this additional advertising is responsible for rising pharmaceutical prices." (02/06/11)
