Syria: Sailor becomes first acknowledged US casualty

"The American sailor killed on Thanksgiving in Syria died from wounds he suffered when a remote-controlled bomb exploded as he was trying to defuse it, military officials said Friday. Senior Chief Petty Officer Scott Dayton, 42, of Woodbridge, Va., is the first American service member to die in the conflict. Davis was a member of the Navy’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Mobile Unit Two, based in Virginia Beach, Va." (11/26/16)
