"Federal jurors have returned guilty verdicts in a host of public corruption charges brought against three former Ron Paul presidential campaign aides [Jesse Benton, John Tate and Dimitri Kesari] accused of a secret plot to pay an Iowa state senator $73,000 for his endorsement. Prosecutors in November filed an indictment against the three 2012 operatives stemming from payments the campaign made to former Iowa state Sen. Kent Sorenson, who dramatically switched his support from the campaign of then-U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann to Paul just days ahead of the Iowa caucus. The Republican operatives allegedly broke campaign expenditure reporting laws by paying Sorenson through a third-party video production in an effort to make the money untraceable in public reports filed with the Federal Election Commission."
