"A botched beer heist became a dangerous early morning shootout at a Phoenix convenience store, police said Sunday. The shooting occurred when three men entered a store near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road about 1:45 a.m. The suspects tried to take beer from the store and were stopped by a 25-year-old man, who was not a store employee, said Sgt. Tommy Thompson, a spokesman for Phoenix police. One of the suspects, a 17-year-old, shoved the man to the floor and shot him, Thompson said. The victim in return shot the youth." (12/19/10)
